You Can't Take It With You!
Money...toys...material things. All these things are important to all of us for a better life, survival, and a comfortable retirement, etc. But, keeping up with the Jones' and the Garcia's...I could care less!
I've been in the humor business the better part of my life, and it is difficult to express to you what a wonderful and gratifying journey this has been for me...that is to put a smile on so many faces. Instead of trying to explain to you...I thought I would show you.
I certainly hope you don't take this as a trip down Ego Street or the fact that I am "tooting my horn." It is more in fact that I am "PROUD" of my accomplishments with my website more than anything else. Back in 1992, when we were all sitting around the dinner table talking about computers, etc., I could never have imagined this wonderful thing could happen to me.
Over the first two years of my website, I have received hundreds of wonderful emails about my website and my work, from people all over the world who I don't even know. These wonderful comments have inspired me to continue foward; I have collected you visit.
The email shown below sits on top of the pile, and I received on July 4, 2002, and I would like to share it with you. And, after reading this email, I'm sure you will better understand why I do... what I do!
"Greetings Jerry: I wish to thank you for brightening my day a bit. Your website was just what I needed in this time in my life. You see, my mother past away on July 2, 2002, and I am trying hard to get back into the swing of things. Being the 4th of July, we had all gathered at her place for a big bang and celebration! Thanks for the laughs I had today...Wayne
How Time Flies!
So, before my time comes...and it will...I want to accomplish as much as I can, especially with the use of all this technology that is available to me and to all of us.
One day you're 22 years old and feeling your oats, and the next day you're 62 years old, and making plans to enter The Old Folks Home!
Is life passing you by? Jer

Everyone has had their share of life's ups and downs , and I've had my share as well. But, in looking at the over-all-picture of things in my life, I've been pretty fortunate. Old Glory has been pretty good to me and my family, so we must give back!
Many years ago, I created my Giving Back Program, and you can learn more about it by going to the following Section. Giving Back

The huge Intel plant, sits on the banks of the Rio Grande River, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, which is a bedroom community of 50,000 residents, located just northwest of Albuquerque, New Mexico, which has a population of over 400, 000.
My ex-wife and I lived in Rio Rancho for nearly twenty years, and we lived about six blocks from this huge plant, which in the year 2003 employs over 7,000 people. Many of the chips that go into computers all over the world are manufactured in the Rio Rancho/Albuquerque area.
Back in 1980-1981 is when construction started on this huge Intel complex, and slowly over the months and years, we watched as this monster computer chip builder came into being. At the time, we knew nothing about computers or computer chips. The only chips I am familiar with, are cow chips, and there are plenty of those around in this part of the Southwest.
I remember sitting around the dinner table with in-laws and discussing the world of computers and the Intel plantl. Computers; chips; Big Blue; mainframes...were all part of a foreign language to us. And, never in our lives, did we ever think we would be able to operate something called a computer, and we certainly would never be able to afford one. And, even if we could operate one, and could afford one...what in the world would we use it for?
My...but how times have changed! The visions of so many bright technical people, have made the personal computer a reality. And the operating of a personal computer has been made easy and affordable for many people all over the world.

.The Little Computer Nerd That Could... (I think I can...I think I can...)
Many of us are new to computers and all the new technologies, and I'm reletively new to all of it as well.
When I first started learning about computers, I thought a cursor was somebody who cussed a lot; I thought an apple was something that grew on a tree; and I thought a megabyte was something that was done to a slice of pizza! (Pretty dumb, eh?)
Anyway, after a slow start, I managed to educate myself about computers, by completing several courses at a local community college, by reading several books, and subscribing to a couple of computing magazines.

A Dream Come True!
And, now comes something called a "website." Again I knew nothing about websites, and I had never seen one. But, I knew from articles and books on computers I had read that this is what I wanted in my life, so I could accomplish as much as I can before I hang up my tennis shoes!
With FIVE job losses in a decade (or so), I am determined more than ever, to build a successful website...to put together a home business, which will work for me all the way to retirement and beyond.
I also want to showcase and promote my writing pieces; my book and screenplay; put my gallery together. And, just as important, I want to address important issues as good mental and physical health; environmental issues; encouragement young people to stay in school and off drugs, and to share and help people any way I can..
In May, 2001, I FINALLY bought my computer! In August of that same year, I started building my website, and Homestead (host) made the process easy, so I started turning out page after page.
At pesent, my website is still a little baby ...flourishing..and I couldn't be happier with the progress! If I didn't have my website, I would certainly feel like life is passing me by, and I would not be a happy camper! |

Major League Baseball
I've chosen to leave the person in this piece unamed because of possible legal problems, and because I may or may not have gotten the facts right, but I think this is important, and I'll do my best.
One of the great New York Yankee sluggers of all time, was famous all over the United States and around the world for his accomplishments in the game of baseball.
He died a few years ago at the young age of 63, and before he passed away, he held a news conference at the hospital where he was being treated. During the news conference, he talked about several things, of which I don't remember exactly at this time. The thing I do remember, was the fact, that in one part of his address, he looked into the camera, and addressed the young people in the world, and he said;
"Don't be like me!"
And, I think what he was talking about, was the fact that, he felt he had partyed a good part of his life away. Because of his world fame, he could have done more with his life. His fame could have opened many doors of opportunity, in the way of giving and helping others less fortunate, important causes, foundations, etc.
Isn't that sad?
When my time comes, I hope I never say something like that!
