I've been in the humor business for over 50 years, and I never get tired of putting a smile on somebody's face. "They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel" Carl W. Bucher

In my younger years...I've hit a home run or two; I've thrown a touchdown pass or two; I've won a dance contest or two, etc. In my later years, I've sold my artwork at arts and crafts shows, and I've built an award-winning website. But, nothing gives me more satisfaction, than to put a smile on somebody's face! Humor has been a passion of mine for so many years, that I'm so blessed and thankful to the Lord, that I have been given the talent of being a funny person! (knock on wood)
In 2005, I was hospitalized for over 3 months, and what gave me the greatest joy and satisfaction, is when I could make the other patients laugh, even if it was just for a few seconds. The reward cannot be described!

Over the last few years, I have received hundreds of emails from people all over the world, and the following two emails are examples of why I've been in the humor business most of my life.
"Jer...thanks for sharing your insightful web pages. I've been going through a rough time with my health, and your pages have made me laugh...and made me see the humor in my own situation. Thanks...Michele."
"Jerry...thanks for a clean and positive website! I have many shut-in or recovering
friends, who treasure uplifting huor. Humor is truly the best medicine for all our pain...both physican and emotional. I know that I will be able to come to your site for a joke that is clean. You fill an important rold for family-friendly laughter...Maria."
Over the years, people have told me that I should have been a stand-up comedian, but that's not possible because I suffer from stage fright! I've always admired people who can speak in public, because I can't do it. So, I'll just have to settle for being a
"sit-down comedian" on the computer, and teach myself to write humor, etc.
One thing is certain...if you get into humor, you're never going to have any problems making friends. Once you make somebody laugh...you've got a friend.
"Humor is the shortest distance between two people." Victor Borge
In school, I was never the class clown. Quite the opposite, as I was just the quiet person just trying to get through it all. You see, I'm Hispanic, and at a young age, my family lived in the barrio next to the railroad yards in one of the poorer sections of town, etc. Living in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood, I didn't speak or write the English language well. I spoke both English and Spanish...a combination called "Spanglish!" When my family moved out of this dreadful neighborhood and into a White neighborhood, the kids would tease me because of my terrible Spanish accent and the way I spoke, etc. Moving into a White neighborhood was good for me, despite the culture shock of it all, because now I would only speak English. Little by little, my speaking and writing English improved!

One of the purposes of my website, is to encourage people to get more humor into their lives and work. What is one of the best ways to learn? From others, right? Learn from their experiences (good and bad); their wisdom; education; knowledge; and skills and talents, etc.
You don't have to be a rocket scientist or brain surgeon, to get into the humor business. But, like anything else, it takes time to develop your skills as a humorist.
"Rome wasn't built in a day!" How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice; practice; practice...and you, too, will be in the humor business.
"Humor is the best shock-absorber in life!" Unknown
My advice to anyone wanting to get into the humor business, is to start slowly; use short pieces for easy delivery; memorize them if you have to; use fresh material, etc. The best place to start is around the home. How many silly things do you see your kids do; your brothers and sisters, and family members? You have to be able to capture these funny incidents you observe on paper. (just a word or two) And, then develop the story as you go along, etc. Don't let those humorous stories get away, and with time and practice, you'll be one of the greatest humorists in the world!
Go for it...you can do it!

The positive and healing power of humor cannot be measured. The one
thing that gives me the most joy, is when a compliment comes my way, and
excuse me for showing my ego, but when somebody says,
"Jerry is s-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o--o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-funny!"
