The Man in a Wheelchair
This situation, which happened to me... is my favorite story of all time,    and it has given  me much inspiration.

I've been in the humor business for so long, and I never get tired of seeing a smile cross somebody's face...and, it's something that has always given me great joy!

And, then there are times when I have had no intentions of making somebody laugh...but, when it happens spontaneously and without  trying, it is even more satisfying.  Case in point:

I had just finished jogging on a sunny afternoon, and I was walking back to the car, which was in the parking lot near the park.  Just a short distance, on the opposite side of the car, there was a man in a wheelchair, wheeling his way toward the car.

We arrived at, or near the rear of my car at about the same time, and we exchanged pleasantries...about the nice weather and so forth.

This was a man, who was quite disabled...not only in a wheelchair...but, his right arm seemed to b pretty useless, and was in a brace.  After seeing his condition, it didn't take long for the glassy
eyes, and lump in my throat to show up.  Isn't it so sad to see so many
people, who have been dealt such an awful hand in life?

After a few seconds of conversation, he looked at the license plate on my car...and a BIG smile crossed his face!  "I love your license plate,"
he said.  My license plate reads:  SLOWPOK  I  thanked him, and told him that I've had quite a bit of fun with it over the years.

He continued to look and smile at the license plate.  Talk about a great feeling that came over me!  To make somebody laugh, (without trying), especially in his condition.

After we finished our conversation,  he waved goodbye and took off in his motorized wheelchair across the parking lot, and into the sunset.

Glassy-eyed and a lump in my throat, there were no words that could describe the warm, feel good feeling, that came over me!  I got in the car, and took off in the opposite direction.

NOTE:  I'll bet you a dollar to a donut, that after looking at me...his
eyes probably got glassy, and there was probably a lump in his throat as well...Jer

The fun idea here is the personalized license plate.  These are tough, because there are only so many letters that can be used, and provide for quite a challenge.

To all the young people out there...STAY IN SCHOOL!.
